Christine Green

Primary teacher

Christine is a primary school teacher and was  first elected to the Council in 2004 and reelected in 2008.  She chairs the Finance and General Purposes Committee and sits on the Executive Committee.

During her 34-year teaching career Christine has taught all age groups from ages four to 19. She is a qualified Reading Recovery Teacher and marked the Key Stage 2 English SATs from their inception to 2006. She therefore brings a wealth of experience to the GTC. She has also been a Committee Member of her trade union the ATL at Branch Level and is still the ATL Representative at her school.

At present she is working as a supply teacher for her local LA.

'As a Council Member I would hope to raise the profile of the teaching profession in order to dispel the myth that exists with the general public.  As stated in my election address. ‘Recruitment, retention, respect and reward,’ are the key issues.'
