General Purposes committee

The General Purposes committee (previously the Finance and General Purposes Committee) is concerned with matters relating to the management of the Council. It is also involved with governance and Members' services, risk management, information technology, communications, and accommodation. The committee has a communications working group.

Prior to the 2 June 2010 announcement to bring forward legislation to abolish the GTCE the Committees’ remit included financial planning and management, corporate planning and reporting, and human resources management, this now falls under the remit of the Executive Committee.
