Introducing the GTC Networks.
Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.
The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.
DfES – 'Countering Racist Bullying’
On 24 November 2005, the DfES invited people with expertise in building anti-racist strategies in educational institutions to contribute to the development of advice in countering racist bullying.
Held in the Young People’s Parliament, the conference made use of interactive technology, including voting buttons to create small scale polls.
The conference, which took place during anti-bullying week, asked the delegates to interrogate a draft pack that the DfES had commissioned, which is available on the right.
The conference also presented a number of case studies of good practice in countering racist bullying, all of which were underpinned by:
- the professional knowledge of teachers and others in tackling racist bullying, which many teachers do not feel confident in, and
- pupil participation at all levels of anti-racist bullying strategies.
