Introducing the GTC Networks.
Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.
The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.
Headlines from racial equality in education research
We have recently developed a comprehensive summary of the latest statistics and research findings relating to racial equality and education. The document relates to both teaching and learning and the school workforce.
It begins with background information, which covers the professional values and the legal framework within which teachers, schools and LEAs work, as well as some notes on language issues. The main part of the document summarises the evidence available on three areas:
- the school workforce
- pupil achievement
- whole school strategies to support multiethnic schools.
The document should be seen as a live one – one that will transform as the evidence base on issues relating to racial equality and diversity expand and develop.
Please let us know if you find this useful and how you use it. Also, let us know if you have any queries, criticisms and updates to ensure that this document is an accessible and accurate compendium of the evidence in this vital area of research, policy and practice. Email us at achieve@gtce.org.uk.
