The Behaviour for Learning project
last updated:01 Apr 2009
I didn’t use research before but now I’ve seen how it can be applied, I’m more confident to use it and share it with others.
The GTC is working with schools and local authorities across the country to enable new teachers to use the Behaviour for Learning (BfL) research resource to improve their professional skills.
The BfL project is proving to be a very effective project helping newly and recently qualified teachers to:
- develop their confidence in creating the most effective behaviours for learning
- understand the strong evidence and research base for this approach to teaching and learning
- use this research to develop their own ideas, gather their own evidence and test it out in practice by conducting a small scale, practical, classroom-based enquiry
- make a difference in the quality of learning that takes place in their own and their colleagues’ classrooms
- develop their coaching and professional leadership skills by supporting new teachers to use the research.
What teachers working with us on the BfL project say
‘I didn’t use research before but now I’ve seen how it can be applied, I’m more confident to use it and share it with others’ - primary teacher, Middlesbrough
‘Interesting to see what other teachers practices are like and how they approach problems’ - primary teacher, Middlesbrough
