Introducing the GTC Networks.

Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.

The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.

Professional learning communities do make a difference!

Professional learning communities: source materials for school leaders and other leaders of professional learning

Research funded by the GTC, NCSL and DfES found that effective professional learning communities have a positive impact on teachers’ morale and practice, as well as making a positive difference to pupils’ engagement and learning.

These source materials will be valuable for CPD co-ordinators and others who are interested in developing their school as a professional learning community.

They will give you ideas for how you might engage your colleagues in self-evaluation, reflective enquiry, dialogue, collaborative learning and problem solving.

The activities are grouped under five headings:

  1. Familiarisation and deepening understanding
  2. Audit
  3. Planning
  4. Action, and
  5. Monitoring and evaluation.

They can be sequenced to suit your needs and the amount of time you have available.

A route map is included to help you plan your use of the materials.  The PDF can be downloaded on the right.
