Introducing the GTC Networks.
Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.
The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.
Future of CPD: personalising CPD
The latest resources for CPD leaders include latest research and insights into practice on personalising CPD.
Personalising CPD is the umbrella term we gave to our work over the past year which has involved schools and local authorities in a number of small projects exploring ways of tailoring the CPD offer to teachers’ needs. No more ‘one size fits all’ – the future is more personal, more geared to well identified and agreed needs.
'There are over 100 graduates in the school, some with MAs and PhDs. If we can’t see how to move our practice on and raise student achievement, then who can?' This statement epitomises the Kirkley High School’s ‘can do’ approach which stems from a belief in the professional ability and judgment of the staff to drive practice forward. Read more about their approach to professional development and teaching and learning.
Connect has been working with schools and local authorities to determine how they can develop and improve their CPD structures that enable the personalising of CPD.
A highlight of the conference in June 2007 was the sharing of a GTC-commissioned research project by CUREE director Philippa Cordingley who engaged the audience in some thought-provoking discussions based on examples from three schools.
