Introducing the GTC Networks.

Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.

The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.

Strategic CPD Leadership – latest research

The GTC commissioned the Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education (CUREE) to conduct a small scale research project on school level strategies for CPD in the spring term 2007.

It found that collaboration, risk taking and creativity in professional learning should be encouraged and developed.

Philippa Cordingley, CUREE’s director, presented the key findings with discussion topics and activities at the event.

Read Philippa’s presentation:

School level strategies for CPD (Powerpoint, 1503kb)

School level strategies for CPD (PDF version, 340kb)

You can explore your school’s priorities for a more strategic approach to professional development by downloading some statements (PDF, 12kb) which can be made into cards and used in a ‘Diamond 9’ exercise.
