The GTC Teacher Learning Academy (TLA) offers professional recognition for the learning and professional development of all teachers.
The TLA is a staged framework of recognition that emphasises collaboration, peer support and verification. For NQTs, the focus of a TLA submission could be related to induction standards and the progress made against them. You can reflect, evaluate and celebrate your progress to date and get recognition for it.

“Stage One fitted into my NQT year as it allowed me to reflect on the year in a positive way. There can be a tendency to look at what needs to be improved but the TLA celebrates success. The submission process also helped me consider what the next steps of my learning would be.”
“My greatest difficulty was actually thinking of something which could warrant a submission. My mentor was invaluable here as I’m not very good at ’blowing my own trumpet‘. We discussed what had actually been achieved. I used the evidence I had collected on how I met the induction standards and transferred this to the TLA submission form. The TLA website is a great resource and guides you through the submission process. The Stage One form is straight forward and doesn’t take that long to fill in.”
“Instead of having a professional development file that might not be looked at that often, you have a certificate that shows you have continued with your professional development. You have all the necessary documents and evidence to go with it. There is recognition of what you have done and also evidence that can be used for promotion or job interview purposes.
“The TLA encourages you to work with other colleagues. These can be in your own school, from other schools or from the wider network of educational professionals.”
Enrol and submit

Do remember to plan your submission with your induction tutor. Your tutor will also need to sign your written submission to confirm the work you completed. Email us if you need any further help.
