Introducing the GTC Networks.

Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.

The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.

Engage Conference: Behaviour for Learning

On 8 July 2008, Engage held a successful national conference on ‘Establishing Effective Behaviour for Learning’.

The day had three main aims:

  • To share the outcomes of the Behaviour for Learning project, run by Engage over the last two years.
  • To learn about how research can inform teachers practice.
  • To learn about how the GTC networks support teachers’ development.

The keynote speakers were:

The afternoon focused on a learning conversation led by Clare Buntic of Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education (CUREE).  A number of teachers presented their findings from research based enquires, all of which focused on improving positive learning behaviours.  The presentations showed how teachers’ engagement with research can have an impact on the classroom environment, pupils’ learning and behaviour and school practices.
