Introducing the GTC Networks.

Good teaching needs good networks and good networks need good teachers.

The GTC Networks provide support by linking teachers nationally and putting them in touch with the latest research and evidence. They let teachers have a voice at national debates on changes to education.

Research of the Month 'tasters'

The RoM tasters have been developed to get you straight to the evidence and begin to explore how to use it in your practice.

Each Taster references the place in the full Behaviour for Learning anthology (PDF, 237kb) and the original RoM where you can access more research and information, including practice case studies.

What do effective teachers believe?

In this resource, we start with the fundamental issue of teacher beliefs: what do effective teachers believe?

Thinking skills

How do teachers challenge their pupils to extend their understanding and to think and to use their imaginations? Evidence about teaching thinking skills emphasises the importance of encouraging pupils to learn about their learning and to be able to transfer learning from one situation into another.

Collaborative learning: group work

How do teachers support co-operative learning?

Collaborative learning: pupil talk

How can pupils’ talk help you to uncover their misconceptions?

Assessment for Learning (AfL)

How do effective teachers use assessment to inform their teaching and to improve their pupils’ learning?
