Belonging: A Cross-curriculum Learning Experience for Key Stage 3
This resource contains a series of lessons designed to accompany a selection of the Belonging films. The 43 films were made by young people from a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds – in London (Newham), Lisbon (Casal da Boba) and Paris (20th arrondissement) – as part of a project designed to enable young people to explore intercultural dialogue. This is a cross-curriculum scheme of work linking citizenship, English and humanities subjects through the common topic of Belonging.
Video ART Postcards Lesson Plans for Citizenship for Key Stages 3 and 4
This project follows the highly-successful, in which teenagers from Newham uncovered sites related to racism and slavery in the West India Docks area of London and each produced a personal short video or ‘postcard’ informed by their learning. Lesson plans were designed to be used alongside the 33 films the young people produced.
Both projects are joint initiatives of The Runnymede Trust and Manifesta. The lesson plans in the ‘Teachers Corner’ have been designed by two experienced teachers and curriculum writers, Professor Chris Gaine and Cristina Bennett and relate to the QCA Curriculum.
