Since 2002, all schools have had a duty under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 to have due regard to the need to:
(a) eliminate unlawful racial discrimination
(b) promote equality of opportunity; and
(c) promote good relations between persons of different racial groups.
Getting this right can be challenging, but there is a lot of guidance available. Here is a selection from national organisations and local authorities.
