Working with teaching assistants
last updated:02 Dec 2008
The schools that were visited in the 'Making SENse of CPD' project all make extensive use of teaching assistants (TAs).
All the schools emphasise how important it is that the TAs have access to ongoing, high quality training and support from the teaching staff and the school leadership.
There are three practice examples, with some background information about the policy context. Some useful links, including one to a feature from the National Teachers Research Panel publication Teaching assistants - crucial partners in children's learning and a comment from the GTC’s Chief Executive, Keith Bartley, are also provided.
Let us have your views, ideas and examples of practice!
