The dispute had raised concerns for some trainee teachers about possible delays to receiving confirmation of their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). However, following a vote by the University and College Union (UCU) to accept a pay deal offered by employers and the end of the national boycott of exam marking in July, QTS results have been received from all initial teacher training providers and we are now in the process of sending out QTS certificates (17 Aug 2006).
If you have not received your certificate by the end of August, please contact the Teachers’ Qualifications team at the General Teaching Council for England on 0870 001 0308 or tqanswer@gtce.org.uk. Employers wishing to seek confirmation of the award of QTS to potential employees should undertake checking through the GTC online service:
