GTC Chief Executive appointed CRE Commissioner
Thu, 06 Apr 2006 01:00:00

GTC Chief Executive Carol Adams has been appointed as one of three new Commissioners for the Commission for Racial Equality.  Carol’s term of office runs from 1 April 2006 for three years and will involve around 2 days per month (06 Apr 2006).

Commenting on her appointment Carol Adams says :

"I am delighted to have been appointed as a CRE Commissioner.  Working to promote equality has always been a personal priority for me and it has been at the centre of the GTC’s work since the outset.  There is a great deal of commitment among teachers and much good practice to share across schools, colleges and higher education but also some challenging problems to be faced.

The CRE has a really important leadership role to play in providing guidance and support to schools and other education institutions to implement the Race Relations Amendment Act.  I am looking forward very much to contributing to the Commission’s work."
