Responding to the announcement that teachers are to have the opportunity to acquire a new qualification ‘Masters in Teaching and Learning’, GTC said today:
‘The GTC support new opportunities for teachers that have a positive impact on children and young people’s education. It is right and important that the new qualifications should focus on the craft of teaching and be rooted in classroom practice.
Teachers participating in the GTC Teacher Learning Academy report that their practice has been reinvigorated by the chance to engage with classroom research, receive high quality coaching and mentoring and to share their views with their colleagues. A successful new Masters qualification will need to incorporate these proven approaches. We will be looking at how the TLA and Masters can work together so that all teachers have the best opportunities to develop and grow professionally.’
