GTC response to Masters in Teaching and Learning North West Pilot
Fri, 27 Jun 2008 01:00:00

GTC Chief Executive Keith Bartley has welcomed the piloting of the new Masters in Teaching and Learning (MTL).

Following an announcement by Beverley Hughes on Thursday 26 June that the North West will be the first region in the country to offer the new Masters to all Newly Qualified Teachers who start work in September 2009, Keith commented:

'The new Masters in Teaching and Learning promises to be an important strand in promoting effective professional learning opportunities for teachers. High quality professional development is vital to help teachers keep building the skills and knowledge they need to support all pupils to reach their full potential.

'We look forward to working closely with the Training and Development Agency for Schools as the Masters qualification evolves to secure an opportunity for all teachers.'
