Teaching’s Code of Conduct : Information for parents

last updated:15 Mar 2010

Teaching’s Code, which came into effect on 1 October 2009, makes a powerful positive statement about contemporary teaching.

The Code looks at what teachers actually do in their job, every day in classrooms and at school, as well as how they  uphold public trust and confidence in the profession through their own behaviour. It shows how teachers encourage learning and how they work with colleagues, other professionals and you as parents.

The Code sets out a shared picture of teacher professionalism – shared between teachers, parents, governors, employers, children and young people, and the wider children’s workforce.
