DCSF: The Pupil and Parent Guarantees

The GTC's response to a consultation by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

The GTC supports the intention to strengthen the relationships between schools, parents and pupils. We also recognise the important role that parents play in the development of their children.

The Council argues that the relationship between home and school should be collaborative, rather than being based on a set of centrally imposed guarantees reinforced by a Home School Agreement.

The GTC also responds to government proposals for the provision of additional support in English and mathematics for those pupils who are not on track to make two National Curriculum levels of progress in these subjects.
