DIY Professionalism: Futures for teaching
reference: none
published: 01 May 2009
This report by DEMOS was commissioned by the GTC. It looks at how teachers define and shape their professionalism when teaching has fundamentally changed in a range of ways. It looks at the high expectations placed on teachers in a profession where responsibilities are more diverse than ever.
The GTC is described as playing an important role in helping teachers to define their professionalism collectively, by enabling them to share their personal experiences to make the most of localised best practice.
The report looks at the challenges of bringing together these experiences when teacher professionalism is increasingly defined at a local level in each individual school or classroom, rather than at a national level with a clear collective vision of the profession’s future.
