Qualified teachers employed in a maintained school, a non-maintained special school or a pupil referral unit must be registered with the GTC.
This application form explains the registration process.
To be eligible for full registration:
- you need to hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- you must not be barred/restricted from teaching by the ISA or GTC
- you must not have failed to complete an induction period satisfactorily; and
- you will need to meet the GTC suitability criteria.
The fee year runs from 1 April to 31 March each year, and the registration fee from 1 April 2010 is £36.50.
Overseas trained teachers (OTTs) and instructors applying for provisional registration must use a different application form.
