Teaching and learning: The role of other adults - a response to issues raised by professionalism and trust
reference: none
published: 01 Oct 2002
The GTC believes that qualified teachers are experts in teaching and learning, and may use their judgement to identify activities that may be carried out by other adults working alongside qualified teachers. There are already many thousands of other adults involved in teaching and learning, including those working as teaching and learning support assistants, learning mentors, instructors, and in further education. The development of new roles for other adults should be shaped by pupils' learning needs.
