Hearing of Professional Conduct Committee
On 17 June 2010 a disciplinary order was made against Mr Geoffrey Johnston, teacher reference number 0349403, taking immediate effect.
Mr Geoffrey Johnston was found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct in that, whilst employed at Fazakerly High School, Liverpool, he:
i) failed to follow the school’s Acceptable Use Statement, in relation to his school laptop computer, in that between 2007 and 2009:
a) he failed to maintain security of his laptop
b) inappropriate material was accessed and used on the laptop
ii) spoke inappropriately to pupils in 2008, in that he:
a) engaged with pupils in conversation about personal and sexual matters
b) made an inappropriate remark to a pupil.
Mr Geoffrey Johnston received a Suspension Order with conditions (one year). The condition is that within the period of suspension Mr Johnston must undertake a Safeguarding Pupils Course to be approved by the Registrar of the General Teaching Council in advance and provide evidence to the Registrar of the successful completion of the programme.
