Engaging with Parents: Pupil Assessment

The GTC has been seeking parents' views about pupil assessment as part of its policy review process. We commissioned the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) to carry out a qualitative research study in order to consult parents on their experiences, ideas and views. The resulting report forms part of the GTC's advice to government on pupil assessment.

Effective Leadership in the Early Years Sector (ELEYS) Study

This study of the characteristics of effective leadership for learning in early years centres was led by Professor Iram Siraj-Blatchford at the Institute of Education, and supported and funded by the GTC.

Developing pedagogies for e-learning resources (PELRS)

Manchester Metropolitan University   |   2005

This was a research and development study exploring the innovative uses of ICT in teaching and learning. The project was conducted by researchers at Manchester Metropolitan University. It ran from 2002 to 2005, and further developments are being planned following positive responses to the work.

Parent focus groups on school accountability

The GTC commissioned NOP Social and Political to support qualitative research among parents, to find out parents' views of 'league tables'.

Education of asylum seeker and refugee pupils

University of Cambridge   |   July 2005

A consortium including the Refugee Council and the NUT sponsored this study. It was led by Professor Madeleine Arnot and Dr Halleli Pinson of the University of Cambridge, and reported in July 2005.
