Continuing professional development

last updated:31 Mar 2009

The GTC commissions research projects to inform practice, policy or broader GTC work related to continuing professional development (CPD). They ask research questions or contain research findings about CPD. These projects range from national surveys, to systematic literature reviews co-sponsored by the General Teaching Council, to small developmental studies.

The GTC also commissions an independent survey of teachers which has focused several times on the views and experiences of teachers on continuing professional development. Read about the survey findings in the section Survey of teachers.

You might also want to read summaries of research on continuing professional development, structured and written for teachers, in the TLA Research section.
