Additional regulatory committee members
In March 2007 the GTC appointed 15 serving teachers and 10 lay representatives and to sit on its regulatory committees. The new appointees will supplement the work of the GTC’s 64 Council members in hearing cases of alleged professional misconduct, incompetence and criminal conviction.
They will receive the same high level of training and evaluation as Council members.
The appointments were made in response to an increase in the number of referrals to the GTC and the Council’s desire to contain the time for cases to be heard. The GTC followed the public appointments process in recruiting to these roles.
