The new Code sets out the expectations on teachers in relation to their day-to-day behaviour and practice.  As such it is much more relevant to the vast majority of teachers who will never be in a position of facing a GTC disciplinary hearing.  However, the way the Code will be used in disciplinary proceedings is very clearly set out, with examples. Obviously the code can’t be a catalogue of everything which can go wrong, but it does give an idea of the kinds of issue where disciplinary action has been taken in the past.
