International delegations
The GTC is committed to welcoming and working with international delegations in order to share our knowledge and expertise with teaching councils, professional bodies and regulators, and leaders in education overseas.

We believe the exchange of information and knowledge in the arena of self-regulation, upholding professional standards and supporting teaching professionalism is an important activity for the GTC, in order to improve and increase global understanding of the role – and value – of teaching.

Please note that there is a wide range of organisations within England which work to support and influence the role and work of teachers, all with separate remits and responsibilities. These include:

  • Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), the UK government department responsible for children's services, families, schools, 14-19 education, and the Respect Taskforce
  • Teaching and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) leads on raising standards in schools by attracting able and committed people to teaching
  • Qualification and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) works to develop the curriculum, improve and deliver assessments, and review and reform qualifications.

If your delegation’s visit would involve multiple organisations such as these (and others) within education, and not just the GTC, the visit organiser may find it easier to arrange the visit via the British Council.

A range of staff across both offices are very happy to meet delegations, normally at our London office, to support the group’s clearly articulated objectives. Please email the Chief Executive’s office to discuss your needs:
