Useful websites

Welcome to the new GTC website.  We've put together a short summary of its new features on this page to help you get the most from the site.  If you have any problems, please contact the Web Team.

We hope you like the look of the new improved GTC website.

The site has been re-designed to make it easier to navigate, so you can find what you want more easily.  On the left hand side, there are headings that relate to the GTC’s main activities and functions.  As you click on these, further options unfurl so you can always see where you are on the site.  On the right hand side, a new navigation panel will help you to follow cross-links between different sections of the site and access downloadable documents, related websites and e-mail links.  You'll need the Adobe Acrobat reader to display PDF documents - follow the link on the right to download it from Adobe's website.

We have also developed an improved search facility. You can use the simple search bar at the top of the page, or a more advanced search that allows you to search specific areas of the site.   In addition, every page of the site gives you the option to search for “similar pages”.

A brand new feature is the ability to create a Web Profile. With this, you can join the GTC's professional networks, register details of your areas of special interest and subscribe to e-mail alerts about changes to the website that relate to those interests. Your profile will also give you access to the discussion forums via a unique user name and password (follow the link on the right for more detailed help about the forums).

Some of the biggest changes to the site are going on “behind the scenes".  The web team is using a high-tech system to speed up the way it adds new content, updates existing pages, and archives older material.

The site has also been made more accessible to users with disabilities in line with the requirements of the internationally recognised ‘Bobby’ accessibility standard. Finally, all pages are available in text-only or printer-friendly versions.

We believe that the many changes we have made will make everyone’s experience of using the website both more enjoyable and more time-efficient. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact us via the link on the right.
